DO-ALL #18 is applied using standard fire fighting equipment. A fog nozzle set at a narrow pattern 0 to 30° is recommended. DO-ALL #18 can either be educted using a standard foam eductor or poured directly into the holding (booster) tank of the pumper. If the product is poured into the tank no mixing is required.
Agitation is the key to a rapid and complete emulsification. Starting at one end of the spill, the firefighter applies DO-ALL #18 over the entire area working to the opposite side.
The hose line should be draped over the shoulder and nozzle kept in a downward position until the surface has been completely treated. A clear water rinse should follow.
Oil/fuel soaked ground resulting from fresh or repeated spills can be sprayed and soaked with DO-ALL #18 to loosen and emulsify the top soil layers of contaminant. The pre-diluted solution of DO-ALL #18 and water permeates the top layers of oil/fuel saturated sol to form a brownish-milky emulsion which, upon this appearance, should be rinsed thoroughly with water. The brine content, as well as the contaminated particles, are spread out in suspension by the water rinse to facilitate rapid biodegration that eliminates the material, as well as the DO-ALL #18.
Oil/fuel vegetation, equipment and roadways can be rinsed with DO-ALL #18 diluted with water (100-500 parts water to 1 part DO-ALL #18) to remove the oil/fuel for easy recovery or dissemination. Often after the containment is recovered by conventional methods (vacuum truck, sorbents, etc.) remnants of the spilled material remains as hard to recover residue DO-ALL #18 diluted with warm water is very effective when sprayed on this residue to emulsify and break up the hydrocarbon into minute particles that do not recoalesce and can be readily rinsed with water.
